Bloody sat in her dimly-lit dorm room, head in her hands as her glowing, red eyes stared down at the flickering face of a letter she'd just spent the better part of a week writing.  It was for her latest assignment in her written magic class, and for once, she was nervous about seeing a project of hers through to completion.  It would expose her, in a sense, and her most tender, vulnerable feelings towards a certain other student.  That wasn't something that she took lightly.

The assignment, in a sense, was a test of the students' abilities to write and use sigils or runes and enchant them so that they could be activated upon reading.  Her professor had given the suggestion that the students use the assignment as a reason to write love letters to others.  Bloody had some apprehensions about doing as much, but after a discussion with her teacher, she felt more confident in doing it.

~
(I know that the rp isn't formatted for a story.  I'm tired.  Fight me.)

Bloody:  Um, Professor Razik?  *Approaches him after the class lets out*  I . . . have a question over the assignment.  Will . . . will we be required to sign our names on the letters that we write?

Razik: *he looks mildly surprised that he's approached, but pleased* Mmm? *because Bloody is a good student and he would gladly answer whatever questions she has* Ahhh... No, I suppose you are not required to sign it? For the few times I've done this myself, I have, because I didn't allow the actual content of the letter to be remembered... Why? Are you planning on sending some anonymous love letters? *grinnn*

Bloody:  *She nods to him as he answers, thanking him and showing him that she understood*  Ah.  That's good, then-  *Is a bit caught off guard when he asks her, and she flicks an ear and looks away for a brief moment*  Well . . . that is what our assigned task is . . . so . . . I suppose, yes, in that respect I am.

Razik: *At her expression, he can't help the playful teasing edge that creeps into his grin, and his own ears flick forwards curiously as he lets out a low hum* Well technically you've already passed your classes, Bloody, so you aren't required to do anything this term. But if you'd like to, I'm hardly going to deny the chance to see more work from one of my favorite students...?

Bloody:  . . .  *Seemed to be considering things before letting out a half-defeated sigh and closing hey eyes, head bowing*  I know that I can't refuse an assignment worth valuable experience in magic . . . I'll proceed with my work.  *Looks up again, ears flicking up a bit at the mention of being a "favorite"*  Well then . . . I'll be sure to not disappoint you, Professor.  Thank you.

Razik: All of the assignments have value if they mean something to you...? *he didn't seem too bothered by the thought of grades or actually graduating, whoops* I just want you to enjoy yourself and learn, there's no way to disappoint me if you do that, Bloody. *playful teasing ear wiggle*

Bloody:  Indeed they do.  I want to learn as much as I can in your classes, so I'll be doing all of the assignments given, I assure you.  *Her expressions seems to relax a little, and a friendly light entered her eyes, though only faintly.  The corners of one side of her lips seemed to be rising as well*  I should hope that I never disappoint you, sir.  I enjoy your classes very much so- the knowledge is very precious to me.

Razik: That is very ambitious of you. Are you planning to graduate from my department? *tilts his head and eyes her curiously* *she would make a lovely student teacher with her dedication, and her more violent nature would probably be better suited to a lot of the students* ...You won't disappoint me, Bloody. The very enthusiasm you have for learning is very refreshing to see? *he has the most fond look on his face because she doesn't even seem to be saying this stuff to suck up to him, but because she truly wants to learn, and that's one of his favorite things in a person*

Bloody:  I am, sir.  I am very determined to finish all of the classes you offer at OtherWorlde.  *Gave a small smile, expression relaxed and somewhat pleased to be discussing academics*  I really think that the subjects you teach can help me better my abilities.  *She bowed her head just a little in acknowledgement and thanks at his response*  Thank you, professor.  I take studying very seriously.  It's important for the future as well as the present, you know?  I'll continue to keep up with my reading and additional studies.  After . . . this . . . assignment might prove useful . . . in my relationship with its recipient.  *Looks only a little shy at the mention of the letter again, but less unsure than before*

Razik: That would be very nice... Have you thought about life after graduating? Are you considering staying on campus to teach, perhaps? There's also a town nearby that a few former students have taken up residence, it's quite pleasant, and the alternate realm is nice as well. *VERY BIASED THOUGH* *he looks pleased at her positive attitude on the topic of studying* I am sure with the way you're working on things, you will have a wonderful future... And ohhh? *his brows rose and he looked nosy* *so nosy* *fond, but nosy* I myself have only used this sort of magic for, ah... Breakups, I suppose. But it would be nice to see it used for a more positive purpose? *The look he was giving her was one that clearly showed he wanted her to volunteer more information, but he wouldn't pry. Much. But if she spoke freely then he would certainly listen!*

Bloody: *Ears flick a bit, and her eyes narrow just a bit, making her look very much like the cat that swallowed the canary* Why, yes. I have, actually. I'm planning on putting my skills to good use when I go back home after graduation. But I'll still come back to earn other degrees as well. There's a lot this place has to offer. *She looks fairly interested in the mention of the town* Hm. And what of students interested in going to the academy but aren't signed up for classes? Are they allowed to stay near here until they can sign up for class? *She frowned only slightly* Ah yes, the Alternate Room. I've been in there quite enough, it feels. I am just thankful that my reflection stays in that room. *She saw his curious look, and wanted to tell him just a bit. Perhaps he'd understand and help her make sense of her strange emotions tied to this student?* Yes...I...it just seems...to be the thing one should do in my situation? *Kind of glances around, not wanting anyone listening in*

Razik: *his ears twitch a bit out of sheer reflex from seeing the movement of Bloody's ears* Back home? I am sure it will be nice when you can return and show off all of your new skills. *he tilts his head to eye her curiously* Like new students? They are able to stay in the beginner dorms, I believe, if they've enrolled before the current term is over. So long as they have their classes, the Academy allows them a room. *so far as he was aware* *he had never been a student here so he had no idea* I like the Alternate Room. *it helped that the weather was milder and he hated the Phantasms, but that was neither here nor there* *his ears flicked forwards at her odd expression and he hummed, low and thoughtful* Perhaps? The assignment certainly is one way to make someone listen to your feelings, but I am not sure if a love interest would appreciate being magically manipulated. I suppose it is all a matter of how you use it... Or why...? *oh man he wanted to know*

Bloody:  *Showing off at home wouldn't begin to describe the awful things she'd do once she returned.  She tilted her head just slightly to the left*  Well, I suppose.  You see, I'm planning on going back to a few havens I visited before coming here, and maybe spreading word about the school.  That's how I found it, after all.  But, what if a potential student was interest, yet didn't sign up for classes?  Would they be allowed on school grounds until the next semester, or would they have to stay in a nearby town like the graduates?

*She gave a small, slow shake of her head*  Oh no.  The only manipulation would most likely be for the recipient to read the entire letter, which they may very well be compelled to do on their own.  It's just . . . *She again looked briefly down to his desk, looking a bit conflicted or . . . flustered?*  This particular student . . . isn't like other students to me. . .  I let them do things and act in ways around me that I wouldn't tolerate or even want from other students . . . or anyone I've ever met, for that matter.  He . . . he's . . . different.  And I don't really know why.  But he makes me happy.  *Looks to the professor with confusion, her brows knitted and head tilted more, teeth slightly bared in a look of loss*  I don't understand why he makes me feel the way I do.  *Seems to be looking for an explanation*

Razik: *he had no idea about Bloody's background or home life so he would only assume his student would do nice hapy things* Mmm... Havens? I can't say I've explored the world much besides Otherworlde, so I've never seen that sort of thing. It sounds lovely though...? *her questions made him a bit curious. Was she trying to introduce someone to Otherworlde without pressuring them to enroll?* They could visit a current guest, but if they don't enroll, they're not given a room. on campus. *Some people did squat in the dorms but that could possibly be dangerous... Though he wouldn't complain, it didn't bother him either way*

Ahhh... You just want them to know how you feel entirely so that they give you a chance? *Oh look she was flustered, that was adorable. Young love was adorable. Especially when they were shy about it! And the teen angst made him feel for her, but then again he still angsted occasionally and he was hardly a teen. Well. He was hormonal normally but being pregnant hardly helped* It sounds like you like him... So long as he makes you happy, that's good, but don't judge him based off of the behaviors of others? But it sounds like you have some good chemistry. *After a pause and a slow nod, the serious expression on his face dissolved into something mischievous and teasing* *eerily like his partner's, actually* He must be cute, too. It can be hard to have a crush on a cute boy, but never fear, you are a lovely young lady and I'm sure he knows it?

Bloody: *poor Razik. E intentions were so much darker than that. She had indeed been telling others about the academy through the use of subtle hints ands murmurs in said havens, just as she had heard about it. She nodded* Ah. I see. I'll keep that in mind and pass it on, then.

I...I don't know. Perhaps? *but a chance at what, though? She'd never experienced "love" before. Or even crushes* I...he does, yes. And don't worry, I'll try not to, sir. *his change in expression caused her brows to further pinch and furrow, and the corner of her mouth twitched* u-uh..i-i, well...I suppose he is actually rather...good-looking. *looks away, rubbing her arms* I'm not sure what he thinks, though. But...thank you.

Razik: *he nodded his approval idly before looking so fond at her good manners and obvious nerves* It's not something to be so worried over! Romance is supposed to be a light-hearted and fun thing. Especially if there's physical chemistry involved? *he's struggling not to laugh at her embarrassment, but his wiggling ears betray his amusement* You're a very pretty young lady, smart, strong and powerful. I'm sure if he is inclined to be attracted to people of that persuasion, he'll like you. Though... You will let me know how your letter-reading goes, mm? I want to hear about his reaction. *gringringrin*

Bloody: *romance. The word made something stir in the deep recesses in her mind. So it /was/ affection after all. She had been avoiding coming to terms with whatever was hijacking her emotions of late...and it was likely because she was hesitant to make herself vulnerable to anyone, or to establish a relationship with someone that may lead to her dependency on them...or possibly yet another loss of someone close to her* Ah...fun. We both enjoy flying. That's fun. *she tapped her chin a bit in thought as she tried comparing what things she found enjoyable to what he might like, and how that would fit in with her academic schedule. She looked up a bit flustered at him again* i- oh. Thank you, sir. I...don't know if he is, honestly, but...we'll see? And I will of course let you know in my report. *She forced her creeping blush away* Thank you...for talking with me about this.

Razik: *He watched his student curiously, not feeling overly concerned. He knew how tremulous and scary romance and love could seem upon first thinking about it, but it was something one had to grow up with and learn (if they enjoyed things of the romantic persuasion), and where better to learn than in a place of learning?* Flying? That can be quite romantic... I hate flying. *he smiled and his words weren't harsh, though, as thoughts of old friends trying to lift him up and fly about with him* You're quite welcome. If anything, I'm glad my assignment will bring you a bit of excitement. At least you will have told him how you feel, and you're giving him a chance to respond, mm? *oh her blush was adorable and he wanted to hug her and comfort her and praise her for taking such a big chance* *but that was inappropriate* *damn his hormones* You are quite welcome, Bloody. I wish you good luck, mm?

Bloody:  Mm.  To each their own.  I . . . suppose it would be odd of me to offer to give you a flight in an attempt to change your opinion, so I'll politely retract the offer.  *She gave a sigh, trying to calm her nerves*  Right, yes.  This is a good thing.  It'll open up the chance for us to . . . talk, or something.  *She nodded to him once more and held her journals to her chest*  Okay then . . . here goes nothing.  *She turned and began leaving the classroom*  See you next class, professor.

~

And so, she wrote out the letter.  She was very careful in crafting the beginning enchantment runes--they were to make the letter readable to the letter's recipient and them only, though she was sure to include a disarming spell for Razik to use upon reading over the copied version in her journal so that he could read and grade it.  The other beginning enchantment was to instill a semi-powerful sense of compelling interest in the reader that would cause them to read the whole thing through.  That would ensure that her time here wasn't wasted, and that some of what she felt for this person would be revealed to them.

Well . . . at least . . . it would be . . . if she signed her name.  She had opted to leave the letter anonymous--a sort of "secret admirer" type deal.  That way, she could gauge the recipient's reaction and then choose whether to reveal herself as the sender or not.

She felt something stir in her chest as she read over the letter again, her eyes drifting over the delicately written rune symbols that spelled out the letter.  Perhaps she should include a rune translation sheet with the letter?  She would cast another enchantment on the letter that would allow her letter's recipient to read it fluently without knowledge on the rune alphabet, but she felt that that would be overdoing it with the incantations.  She didn't want to possibly risk losing the letter or altering it in some negative way.  No, leaving it all in runes with a decoder should be enough.

  Dearest Chaii,
Please, forgive me for not having the courage to disclose with you my identity as of yet.  You may very well discover who I am in the future, but for this fleeting moment, I wish to remain anonymous--an enigma--as I am still only just coming to grips with the odd turmoil of feelings and thoughts swelling inside my being.  You see, I find it hard to express or even understand a handful of my own emotions, and I am not one for making myself vulnerable to anyone, but I cannot ignore the strange feelings I get from seeing you, talking with you, working with you, and all of the wonderful things we've been able to do so far.  I especially cannot ignore the times when you've held onto me and brought me near and kissed me, your lips soft and gentle and incredibly soothing despite the maelstrom of sensations that arose in both my head and chest after you displayed said affection.
My main purpose in writing this letter is to thank you.  It has been ages since I felt this happy, and longer still since I have ever been so in awe of anyone, or have been shown the same level of kindness and compassion that you've shown to me.  I had forgotten that I even so much as had a heart before I met you.  Suddenly, the world doesn't seem so empty and cruel.  Please do not change.  Ever.  And hold your head up high.  You are wonderful, and should be much more confident in yourself.
Secretly yours,
______

Bloody leaned back.  It hardly even covered what she wanted it to express to him, but it would serve its purpose, at least.  There were some things better expressed face-to-face, after all, and hopefully they would be if the appropriate time ever presented itself to her.  But until then, she had this letter, and Chaii's company.  That would be enough.

She checked once more that the ending charm was correctly written down.  It's purpose was to keep the reader from remembering the letter's exact contents while still leaving them with the feelings and over all themes or sense that the letter left.  Besides, if he ever needed to, he could always reread the letter.

After another few moments of silence, Bloody scooted her chair back and reached for a dark red envelope with intricate black ivy-like tendrils decorating the corners.  She folded the letter and put it into the paper protector before addressing the back to Chaii and sealing it with hot wax, yet not using her stamps to leave behind an identifier for him to easily guess who had sent it.

She stood and pushed her chair back in, holding the envelope in her hands.  She had mail to deliver to a certain someone's room.  And she had to do it without being seen.
